In partnership with Lake Oswego Watershed Council and Mountain Park Clubhouse we present:

Under The Canopy: Right Tree, Right Place, Right Time, Right Reason.

Join friends and neighbors for an informative Science Talk. The featured speaker for our June event is Jennifer Killian, MS.  A long-time urban forester and an Assistant Professor in Urban Forestry at OSU, Jennifer will share her expertise on living in community with our urban forest.

  • From tree canopy to tree selection to climate resilient trees, Jennifer will explore the vital intersections of tree health, climate, and community. This talk will dive deep into the elements that make Lake Oswego a resilient ecosystem, including:
  • Tree Canopy Equity: Learn about shade impacts on community health and why every neighborhood deserves a thriving urban forest
  • Tree Selection: Choosing the right trees for the right places
  • Climate Resilient Trees: Learn which trees are being recommended and why
  • Arborist 101: When you need to call an arborist

With opportunities for Q & A, you’ll leave with an understanding of the role we play in our environment – we are all part of an ecosystem and have a role to play in supporting all life. Be sure to come early to enjoy the refreshments and great views!
