More Than Just Fun
We all know that swimming is a fun activity the whole family can enjoy together, but learning to swim is not just about having fun. Staying active is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and swimming is an excellent low impact, whole body workout whether you’re 1 year old or 101 years old. Establishing healthy habits young will help your child remain healthy their entire life. Swimming is also a vital safety skill that your child should develop. According to CDC data, drowning is the leading cause of death in children 1 to 4 years old and the second leading cause of unintentional injury death, behind only car accidents, for children 5 to 14. While there are many things you can do to protect your child like using life jackets, building enclosures around home pools and spas, and educating your child about water safety, very few interventions are as impactful or universally applicable as learning to swim.
